Dr. Kinman with California Attorney General Bill Lockyer who signed her appointment by the Senate Rules Committee on the recommendation of Senator Hilda Solis to the CALIFORNIA COMMITTEE OF BAR EXAMINERS.

The Committee of Bar Examiners meets every month for two days and is responsible primarily for the development, administration, and grading of the California Bar Examination for more than 11,000 applicants; and the First Year Law Students' Examination for approximately 1,000 applicants annually.

Was a member of the CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY NETWORKING TASK FORCE which helped develop the state-wide library plan that is now being implemented with bonds voted on in March, 2000.

Worked on several committees in SPECIAL LIBRARIES ASSOCIATION including the President's Task Force, and Copyright Law.

President of SPECIAL LIBRARIES ASSOCIATION SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER of 600 members who are librarians serving in libraries with specialized collections of books and materials.

Editor of the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF LAW LIBRARIES Newsletter, and Speaker at the Institute of Municipal Law, as well as working on several committees.

Was a member of the Board of Directors of the ALHAMBRA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE and while on the board encouraged the members to begin the CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL.

Soroptimist International Camino Real Region
Chair, and founder of the SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL CAMINO REAL REGION FRIENDSHIP GRANT COMMITTEE which offers to any Soroptimist in the world (except the United States) a Grant of three weeks of living with Soroptimists in the Region . The 1998 winners were Deanny Fremaux, President of SI Rheims, France, and Erika Heuser, President of SI Brussels, Belgium. In 1999, Keng Chee Tay, President of SI Kuantan, Malaysia, was our winner.

"This all grew out of the fact that I was a Friendship Grant winner to New Zealand South and found it to be such a rewarding experience that I wanted other Soroptimists in the world to have the same experience, and the opportunity to visit us."

"We have many projects, but partnering with RIF (Reading is Fundamental) is one of our most exciting, hands-on project. We go to the third-grade classes and give each student a book three times a year. Both we and the students have a lot of fun!"
